Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said plans by the state government to set up caretaker committees for the local governments in the state is illegal and unconstitutional.
State party chairman, Alhaji Haddy Ametuo, stated this yesterday in Lokoja while addressing members of the party on the forthcoming general elections.
He said there is an earlier judgement on the issue of setting up caretaker committee for councils by the state Chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah, where he said any form of caretaker committee under any guise is illegal.

“It is good to note that there is an existing judgment by the state chief judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah pronouncing any form of caretaker committee under any guise as illegal. We are already before this very court over this issue,” he said.
He said they are informing the public and the judiciary about the clandestine move by the state government to constitute caretaker committees for all the 21 local government councils in the state before the end of this month,” he said.
