A political leader in Kogi State, Chief Sola Adedoyin has called on the federal government to expedite action on the release of bailout funds to states across the federation without political prejudice.
The Ekinrin Adde-born politician made the call during a chat with our reporters in Kabba.
He said many states across the federation are finding it difficult to pay workers. “A bailout is expected to be an economic intervention and not a tool for political control. The hungry Local Government staff is not interested in politics. He wants to meet his economic needs and fulfil his dreams.
“Some politicians in the state are already boasting that the funds will not be released to Kogi because APC doesn’t want council staff to be paid before the election. Issues like this should not be our focus. The federal government should do what is needful and remove people from hunger.
“President Muhammadu Buhari should remain the man of integrity that we all know him to be and resist the temptation of falling into the hands of people who think they can extend their empire to Kogi State through actions aimed at discrediting the State Government. This is a time all political divides must be closed to cater for the welfare of our people.
“It is unfortunate to withhold the funds from some states for political reasons. APC should run a government that is concerned about the welfare of the people and not one that is only desperate for political powers”, he said.
Adedoyin called on politicians in the state not to turn the state to a war zone during the forthcoming governorship election, saying the lives of Kogi people are more precious than political positions.
