Dogara, Wada, CAN President, Others Grace Prof Amupitan Mother’s Burial in Kogi

Dignitaries from all walks of life weekend gathered at First Baptist Church, Aiyetoro Gbede, Kogi State to pay their last respect to Mama Alice Meseoran Ajigba Amupitan, mother of Prof. Joash Amupitan SAN of University of Jos.

Former Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara; Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Office Commission (ICPC), Prof. Bolagi Owasanoye; President of Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Dr. Samson Ayokunle; member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf; candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16th Kogi Gubernatorial election, Engineer Musa Wada; wife of Plateau State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Abigail Tyoden; Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Taofiq Isa; Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni; Agbana of Isanlu, Oba Moses Etombi as well as many sympathizers graced the colourful event.

The President of CAN, Dr. Samson Ayokunle while speaking on the topic: “A Life that Glorifies God,” said a man that honours God is that who  live a meaningful and all encompassing for Christ.

According to Dr. Ayokunle, “the best way to spend one’s life time is to cut it to glorify God. Spending our lives to glorify God means living for God’s pleasure or for God’s will on earth. A life that glorifies God is a life that lives for Christ and also to such a life that live for Christ, death is gain. That is a life that is totally encompassing, a beneficial life, a meaningful life, a life that had come to the world to gain everything especially eternity.”

The CAN President who told the congregation to be mindful of the fact that all men will die and give account of their stedwardship before God.

Dr. Ayokunle urged Christians to be good ambassadors of Christ by avoiding corrupt acts capable of restricting them access to eternity.

He sympathized with the Amupitan family and the people of Aiyetoro Gbede over the loss and advised the children of Mama to roll out drums and celebrate because their mother lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation.

He extolled the deceased for bringing up children of integrity especially Prof. Joash Amupitan SAN who according to him has distinguished himself as a godly and accomplished legal Icon.

In a good will message, Former Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara extended his condolence to the Amupitan family and prayed God to comfort them and the Church.

“I know how difficult it is to loss a loved one, it doesn’t matter what age but it is what God has ordained. All of us will pass through this (death). Please my brothers and sisters, let us not take our Christian life likely because the rewards are glorious.”

Dogara stated that the deceased who lived her life serving God and humanity, left behind brilliant children and grandchildren.

He urged the children and the people to emulate the virtues of Mama Alice Meseoran Ajigba Amupitan by touching lives positively.

“The best way to remember Mama is to keep reenacting those good things she did that touched people. I pray that God will give you the grace to do that.”

Responding on behalf of the family, Prof. Joash Amupitan SAN thanked all that identified with them in their moment of grief and prayed God to reward them.

“My mother is very unique in so many ways, she’s a woman who loved her Children, relations and everyone around and she is a very charitable woman. I don’t want to talk about her in the past because she’s a woman that does not want to see anyone around her suffer.”

Prof. Amupitan maintained that his late mother was always interested in the spiritual and physical development of all that crossed her part.

He said his late mother was an educationist who was passionate for the young generation to go to school.

He added that the vacuum created as a result of the death of Mama Amupitan will be too difficult to fill and prayed God to grant her eternal rest.
