Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of representatives, has sworn in Haruna Isah, a newly elected federal lawmaker from Kogi state.
The speaker swore him in at plenary on Wednesday.
Isah was elected during August’s bye-election in Lokoja/Koton-Karfe federal constituency. He contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of Umar Jibrin, former house minority leader and previous occupant of the seat.
Isah had polled 26,860 votes to defeat Bashir Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Like the new lawmaker, the deceased was also a member of the APC.
