Our people are simply tired of being consistently and persistently lied to and they want a scapegoat.
Gladly, Senator Adeyemi is the only one they see in front of them and it’s a cross he has to carry for his outstanding and monumental failure of 8 years as a senator.
Let no one envy Dino Melaye because it is not his fault if those handed power on a platter of gold trampled on it. Smart Adeyemi did not justify the huge resources made available to him in the eight years the people of Kogi West trusted him with their mandate. Those days are gone when people will just gloss over these inadequacies in performance and excesses in arrogance. We are not asking for too much in Kogi West.
We are not looking for saints as leaders but we want men and women who are less greedy and more caring. Unfortunately, we searched in vain for this in Senator Smart Adeyemi. Most of the supposed achievements of Smart Adeyemi then, are items in the catalogue of fake, poor and abandoned projects.
It’s strange how a senator and his cohorts can make so much fuss over the uncompleted projects across Kogi West under his wasteful watch. Every West Kogite is outstandingly shocked at the quality of what the senator is promoting as uncommon achievements.
An end came to the misery and retrogression of almost a decade in Kogi West when Smart Adeyemi was voted out and replaced with a credible alternative; Dino Melaye.
Despite the imperfections of Dino Melaye; as if anyone is perfect, he has defined succinctly what quality representation is with the unbeatable number of motions and bills credited to him. His delivery of constituency projects in the last three and a half years is equally laudable. So much that placed side by side with Smart Adeyemi’s eight years, the difference is definitely clear.
Unfortunately, the motley congregation who can’t see this or refused to acknowledge it are those forced by determination to remain in the good book of Alhaji Yahaya Bello so as to retain their positions and hangers on.
While Dino Melaye is confronting those who are responsible for the agony of the people, Smart Adeyemi is hobnobbing with the same people just for his own interest.
The same attitude of placing himself over and above collective interests that culminated in his failure as a political entrepreneur.
Two bad and miserable terms certainly do not deserve another but one good quality term of sterling performance in legislative representation surely needs another.
That is the general consensus in Kogi West even as some are fine tuning their strategies to manipulate the elections. They will however understand how formidable the will of the people is.
