Kogi Patriotic Group (KPG) has described embattled senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye as hero of democracy not minding his persecution from both federal and state governments.
The spokesperson of the group, Abdul Abdul said it will go down in the history of Nigeria that aside Chief Moshood Abiola and his wife, Melaye is “another newly discovered icon of democracy”.
According to Adbul, Senator Melaye, in spite of his political position and health status, was forced into pre-planned persecution orchestrated by both by the state and federal authorities. He described the action as petty.
“For a government who ought to take corrections from avoidable policy somersaults and deliberate inactions now resort to witch-hunt and persecution shows the level of decadence of governance in Nigeria.
“History will still repeat itself, we assure Kogi State Governor and his cohorts of coming back to Lokoja in handcuffs in the nearest future.
“Having failed the masses both at state and federal levels, they have now resorted to early political persecution, harassment, intimidation and false allegation to drive home their point towards retaining power in 2019.
‘Whether governor Bello likes it or not, as long as Almighty God did not give him power to kill Senator Melaye, he remains the rallying point of the entire Kogians come rain, come shine,” he said.
The group expressed solidarity with Senator Melaye, advising him not to be derailed by the current ordeal and the gimmicks of the present crop of leaders.
