Devastating Storm in Kogi Central; Senator Ogembe Seeks NEMA’s Assistance

Following the storm that destroyed properties in five local government areas in Kogi, Senator representing Kogi Central, Ahmed Ogembe has submitted a letter of complaints to the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) Alhaji Muhammed Sani-Sidi.
The senator, who personally submitted the letter to the Director-General at the NEMA headquarters in Abuja, on Thursday said the storm destroyed properties worth several millions of naira.
He listed the affected council areas to include,  Okene, Okehi, Adavi, Ajaokuta and Ogori Magongo, all within his senatorial district.
“As a senator representing Kogi Central, it is my duty and responsibility to ensure that the wellbeing of my people are addressed without delay.
“I have come to  appeal to the National Emergency Management Agency, in line with its statutory responsibilities to quickly come to the aide of the people in the affected places and help bring succor to them, “he said.
Responding, the NEMA boss thanked the senator for his prompt response to the plight of his people and immediately directed his officers to embark on the assessment of damage and advise the agency on the immediate needs of the affected people.
He assured that as soon as the assessment team report back, he will give further directive on how to release relief materials to the victims.
It could be recalled that properties worth several millions of naira was destroyed following a heavy down pour on 28th March 2017 leaving many residents homeless.
