Nigerians have been called upon to use the occasion of this year’s Democracy Day, which marks 18 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in Nigeria, to celebrate those things that unite the country rather than fan the embers of disunity and disaffection.
The House of Representatives Member Representing Okehi/Adavi Federal Constituency in Kogi State, Hon. Muhammed Kabir Ajanah, made the call in Abuja in a Democracy Day message issued by his Media Aide, Comrade Ajayi George Ozovehe.
Hon. Ajanah said Nigerians should at all times, irrespective of socio-religious differences, promote values that will deepen democratic culture and norms in the country since it is accepted that the worst form of democratic government is better than any other form of government.
Ajanah noted that as stakeholders, all Nigerians must work for national unity and the promotion of best practices that would enhance the dignity of man as Nigeria is the pride of the blackman worldwide.
He also advised political office holders at all levels to be more responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of their people in the true spirit of democratic and purposeful governance.
