The people of Oganenigu community in Dekina local government area of Kogi State have cried out to the governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, over the deplorable condition of their road.
In a statement issued by the chairman, Abuja branch of Oganenigu Community Development Association (OCDA), Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, they said, Oganenigu is one of the principal communities in Dekina local government that needs urgent infrastructural facilities.
Alhaji Ibrahim stressed further that, of the two major roads that leads to the community; the 22 kilometers Oganenigu-Iyale road is completely unmotorable, while the 26 kilometers, Oganenigu-Etutekpe road, last constructed with laterite overlay in 1978, is dilapidated and has become notorious death traps. He said since the 1978 efforts, the road has not received any meaningful attention from the state government, adding that even the 2012 palliative work on the road worsened the condition of the road.
Alhaji Ibrahim appealed to the governor, Alhaji Bello, to see his victory and assumption of office at a time like this; as a ‘divine mandate’ to wipe away tears. He appealed to the governor to demonstrate his benevolence by constructing the 26 kilometers Oganenigu-Etutekpe road. The chairman assured the governor of Oganenigu community’s continuous support for his administration, as he settles-down to pilot Kogi state to a greater height.
