A lot of my supporters in Dekina / Bassa Federal Constituency have been asking why I joined the SDP? many preferred I remained in the APC or at most joined the PDP.

For the purpose of clarity,  I wish to state my reasons as follows;

  1. That I am an ardent follower of the Late Prince Abubakar Audu. He was a man who brought tremendous development to Igala land and Kogi state at large. Almost all, if not all the visible projects in kogi state were built by him using the state merge resource available at that time. He was a man always in the opposition but nobody could denial his impact in the state. I have asked myself this simple question. Assuming the late Prince had  lost the APC primaries in 2015 and is made to witness the current decay under this APC led administration in the state would he have remained in the APC?
  2. Having witnessed first hand, the evil the then PDP administration did to the Late Prince would he have joined the PDP with the likes of Former Governor Ibrahim Idris and Capt Idris Wada as leaders of the party? Am sure your guess is as good as mine. We all can still remember how the late Prince was accused of embezzlement. He was handcuffed and paraded as a criminal under the then PDP Administration despite his giant strides in the state development, We all know how the so called PDP leaders fought him to his grave. We all can still remember how many of our youths died in Anyigba  during the PDP led Administration.
  3. Dekina / Bassa Federal Constituency and indeed Kogi state at large have witnessed both the PDP and the APC administrations. I have consulted widely with many critical stakeholders with most of them expressing their frustrations with this two known parties and are yearning for something new, fresh and good. I personal see this renewed hope as the people’s mandate thus I have chosen to run on the mandate of the people like the Late Prince Abubakar Audu no matter the outcome. I choose to run on the SDP platform.

Lastly, For those who are afraid of my decision I have two things to tell you.

A. The late Prince Abubakar Audu was a progressive driven with the commitment to serve our people. I Sani Idakwo Philips have decided to be a progressive ready to serve my people hence my joining the SDP. It was Professor Wole Soyinka who once said “ a man must live or die by his true principles”.

B. Let me tell you a secret but please don’t tell anybody oh!!! There are many APC and PDP members in SDP. They will show it when the time comes. Remember you promised not to tell anyone oh!!!

On this note, I am persuaded that come 2019,  you and I would be riding on a white horse which is the will of the people with a bow in our hands and victory as our crown and together we shall be conquering and we shall conquer.

So relax!

God bless you all.

Sani Idakwo Philips.

SDP House of Representatives Candidate for Dekina / Bassa Federal Constituency.
