Former Kogi State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has said that the recent defection of some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC)  will not affect the strength of the party in the state.

Alhaji Idris stated this yesterday at Abejukolo, the headquarters of Omala Local Government Area of the state, adding that PDP will record  landslide victory in 2015 general elections in the state.

He said the defection  was as a result of selfish desire of the decampees who had made several electoral fortunes out of the PDP but decided to dump the party because of their inordinate ambitions.

Alhaji Idris explained that the administration of Idris Wada, is  consolidating on  some of the infrastructural projects left behind by his administration, saying the development is contributing to the rapid development of the state.

The former governor said Kogi is a PDP state which no other party can take away.

Idris also urged northern leaders to give the federal government the needed support in order to end the security challenges in the country instead of “fanning the ember of disunity.’’
