A group of Kogi people mainly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has challenged President Goodluck Jonathan to toe the path of honour and declare Kogi State an oil-producing state with derivable benefits.
The group, using the recent PDP Presidential rally, made conscious agitation for Kogi state to be declared as an oil producing state in view of the recent discovery of oil in the Ibaji area of Kogi state. The group who articulated their position in a widely distributed handbills, placards and billboards humbly and passionately appealed to the President to declare Kogi state as an oil producing state.
They also in the handbills requested for immediate compensation of the victims of the Kogi/Anambra communal clashes occasioned by the crisis that followed the discovery of oil in the area.
They had earlier in the same write up appreciated the President for the establishment of the Federal University of Lokoja, Federal High court Lokoja, Central Bank of Nigeria Lokoja, dualization of Lokoja-Abuja road, award of the Kabba-Ilorin Road and the completion of the dredging of the River Niger. They described these unprecedented federal presence in Kogi State as very laudable and commendable, while also commending the President for appointing Kogi indigenes in key government offices like the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, ADC to the President and several other key offices
The leader of the group Omoluabi Olabode Adeyemi while talking to newsmen cited these achievements as the reason why the entire Kogi people will vote President Goodluck Jonathan. He also commended the Government of Kogi state for the successful completion of the 30,000 seating capacity stadium which was commissioned during the visit, the phase two of the Kogi state specialist hospital, and other great projects embarked upon by the PDP led government of Kogi state.
Omoluabi Olabode concluded that the people of the state will keep faith with the party in view of the performances recorded at the various level of Government.
