A socio-cultural group, Igala vanguard has described moves by the state government to establish additional campuses of the Kogi State University (KSU) as practically impossible, a misplaced priority that is capable of creating unnecessary tension in the state.
In a statement released by the convener if the group, Engineer Lawrence Akpa, the group wondered why the same institution whose employees numbering over 600 were disengaged for lack of funds is now fit for balkanization.
The group also condemned “the myopic position presented to the public by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Honourable Edward Onoja to support the satanic tendencies of his paymaster in a bid to achieve cheap political points”.
He described Edward Onoja’s position on KSU as alien in contrast with the practice in other state universities like Benue State University, Kwara State University and Ladoke Akintola University that avoided multiple campuses for effective coordination and finance in its activities.
He described some acclaimed Igala leaders as “bloody opportunists” stating that the Igala race is not the head of the other zones in terms of tertiary institutions in the state as his decisions is capable of promoting ethnic division and coloration in the state
The group advised the Igalas to protest against the proposed multiple campus arrangement across the state in view of the current recession inflicted both at the state and federal level in the name of contrived ‘change’.
