Dear Prince Abubakar Audu,
Letter of Appreciation
It is with honour and sincerity that I write this long overdue letter to express my appreciation of the one decision of your administration that has added value and changed the life of every one family of the Igala people in particular and the Kogi State people in general. That one decision is the establishment of Kogi State University.
The people-your own people-may have other decisions they do not like during your administration but I employ them to know that, more than anything else, this one decision of yours has rewarded us all more than we can imagine.
There was a time in our live,s history as a people that we were known to be available in the menial job industry. At that time, we were seen more as gate keepers, gardeners, cleaners, low ranking solders, low ranking policemen etc. Today, there is a paradigm shift from lowliest to occupying positions in mainstream organisations. We now compete adequately with people from other parts of the country.
I am a 2007 graduate of Kogi State University. In the course of been in school, I observed the following:
1. There were men and women who would never have dreamt of attending higher institution, they made it because you established Kogi State University.
2. There were young people-boys and girls-to whom University education would have lost in their dreams, they made it because you established Kogi State University.
3. There were people whose career would have ended in thuggery but whose lives took a fantastic upturn because of Kogi State University.
4. There are families who have been able to send 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 of their children to school because you took that one decision. Three members of my family passed through Kogi State University.
In addition, Kogi State University alone has tuned around the economy of Ayingba and by extension, neighbouring villages.
Economic activities have improved dramatically. Quite a number of people gained employment and many businesses grew and expanding. Many others took advantage of the real estate opportunities, transportation industry have its own share of growth, and more people now domiciled in Ayingba.
In 2004 when I got admission into the University, there was only Union bank located at Ochaja and that was where everyone banked. Today there are a couple of banks with modern facilities in Ayingba.
We had to travel to Dekina to make phone call, today we not only make calls, we browse on our phone. Good food was difficult to find, today we have standard eateries in Ayingba.
All these accomplishments were the result of that one decision you made about 16 years ago.
In my personal capacity and from the depth of my heart, I stand to say THANK YOU for touching my life positively. Not just me but also the thousands of lives that this one decision that created the Kogi State University have touched.
I also believe that you are not yet through with your vision for your people. I say the last statement not with political tune, I say it because your name alone can open more doors that will further put smiles on the faces of the people and will register in their hearts as a name to reckon with for centuries to come.
Your name, not your money, I mean your name can be of greater advantage to your people and will open more doors of greater accomplishment to you also.
I therefore call on everyone and anyone who will read this letter and whose life has been touched by Kogi State University to give a standing appreciative ovation to His Excellency, the past governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu. Also leave an appreciative comment bellow.
Sir, I wish you the best in all your endeavour and may the Spirit of the most High God be with you.
Sincerely,
Joseph Peter.
