In Kogi State today, one of the schools whose students are performing excellently in universities across Nigeria and even outside the country is Darul Arqam Primary and Secondary School. The school is located at Agassa in Okene Local Government Area, Kogi Central.

Darul Arqam is an Arabic and Islamic school founded by the respected Islamic scholar, Sheikh Luqman Abulyatama. Though the school is less than forty years old, its students have already built strong reputations for themselves in many top universities. Many of them perform exceptionally well, especially in Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Some graduates of Darul Arqam have even become Ameer (leaders) in various institutions, particularly in the far northern part of the country where many people believe they are far ahead of our region in Islamic knowledge. The outstanding academic record of Ustadz Haroon in Sudan is one clear example among many. These achievements prove that the school has qualified teachers and a solid academic foundation.

They also confirm that Darul Arqam teaches true Islam. There is a saying: “Truth is one; it has no duplicate.” This simply means that the truth you learn in Okene is the same truth that will stand anywhere in the world, as long as it is based on authentic Islamic teachings.

Today, we celebrate yet another remarkable success story. Two outstanding alumni of Darul Arqam School, Agassa, Okene, and Darul Arqam School, Adogo, Ajaokuta, Mahmud Muhammad Muzzammil and Mubarak Muhammad Jamiu, have made their alma mater proud by graduating with First Class Honours in BA Arabic from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

Mahmud Muhammad Muzzammil distinguished himself not only by earning First Class Honours but also by emerging as the Best Graduating Student in his department, a clear testament to his exceptional intellect, discipline, and dedication.

Mubarak Muhammad Jamiu also attained First Class Honours, further affirming the culture of academic excellence nurtured by Darul Arqam. Their success is another strong evidence that the school is doing something truly remarkable.

If Sheikh Luqman had been teaching anything other than the true message of Islam, his students would not be performing this well outside their community. In universities, students from different schools, states, and tribes learn under the same roof and compete together. Yet Darul Arqam students continue to shine brilliantly.

Considering the value Islam places on knowledge, discipline, and good character, it is easy to understand why Darul Arqam remains a beacon of excellence.

I, along with many others who value quality education, sincerely appreciate the efforts of Sheikh Luqman Abulyatama and the entire management of Darul Arqam. Their dedication is helping to produce disciplined, knowledgeable, and successful young people in Ebiraland.
