It took the quick intervention of a special squad of police task force in Kogi State yesterday to save the lives of residents of Adankolo area of Lokoja metropolis when cult groups opened fire on themselves.
But before the arrival of the security operatives, two lives had been wasted as the cult groups engaged themselves with high calibre weapons.
A third person died on his way to the hospital while the police were rushing him to the hospital.
One of the officers who could not wait to explain the situation said they were on the trail of the perpetrators of the deadly violence in the ancient city of Lokoja, Kogi State.
It was a brawl over a girl, who is now at large, that degenerated to the superiority battle and the killings, an eyewitness told our reporter.
It was gathered that about 15 members of the cult groups were yesterday arrested at the National Museum and Monument in Lokoja where they were holding a meeting.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Nigeria police command, Lokoja, ASP Williams Yaya said he had not got the details and promised to offer it when ready.
