Conscience Nigeria with partner Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) led by Comrade Tosin Adeyanju today commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s patriotic recognition of late Moshood Abiola and the Senior Advocate of the Masses, late Gani Fawehinmi as heroes of democracy.

In a press statement, Adeyanju also commended the reversal of Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12.

According to him, this singular action of President Buhari has further cast him as a democrat and a man that has stamped his name in the Hall of Democracy in Nigeria.

“For recognising a day that all Nigerians from different works of life went out in their millions to cast their votes for MKO and the election was adjudged as the freest election in our nation’s history but was aborted by the military Junta headed by Ibrahim Babangida, President Buhari has stamped his name in the Hall of Democracy in Nigeria.

“With this, Mr President has further rekindled our hope about our dear nation that we must not loose hope about the country but continue to contribute our quota towards nation building at all times. The Civil Society family that played a major role towards the actualization of the June 12 mandate after its annulment is today elated by this singular action and we are grateful. You can always count on our support towards a better Nigeria,” he said.
