Newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, CP Miller Dantawaye, has officially assumed office at the State Command Headquarters in Lokoja.

His assumption follows the retirement of the former Commissioner, CP Bertrand Onuoha.

Addressing journalists at the command headquarters on Thursday, CP Dantawaye advised criminal elements terrorizing residents to leave the state.

”God has brought us here and we are not here to joke. The Inspector General of Police deemed it fit to post me to Kogi state, and I am sure he knew why he did that,” he said.

He emphasized the need for collective effort in the fight against crime with a pledge to strengthen intelligence gathering.

He noted that many members of the public know the locations of criminals’ camps but refuse to disclose that to the police because of fear of being harmed by the criminals.

The Police Commissioner said he would release his telephone numbers and that of every officer of the command to members of the public so they can supply information to the officer they trust and promised to treat such information with utmost secrecy.

Dantawaye noted that the Command will continue to synergize with other sister security agencies in nipping crimes in the bud.
