In a way to cushion the effects of the stay-at-home directive to contain the spread of coronavirus, TAYOLESLIE Foundation, a non-profit, non-governmental, humanitarian organisation has donated commodities such as rice, semovita, salt and vegitable oil to a group of beneficiaries in Egbe, Yagba West Local Council, Kogi State.

The foundation targeted vulnerables such as the aged, widows and widowers, youths as well as underpaid category of  civil servants.

Activities of TLF did not start with the outbreak of COVID-19. In the previous years, the foundation had a reputation of giving support to the people in terms distribution of essential commodities and cash.

Activities of TLF have been underreported albeit deliberately as the founder is known to  prefer low profile.

According a source in the foundation, the timing of the distribution of the commodities, last Wednesday, was to coincide with the Easter celebrations, to ease the effects of the lockdown on the vulnerable.

When contacted to speak on the cost of the humanitarian programme, TLF founder, Leslie Ann Tayo declined comments.

However, beneficiaries have expressed gratitude to the foundation for coming to their aide at this crucial time of human race.

One of the beneficiaries, a civil servant, who simply identified herself as Rachael, was full of praises for the unseen hands that fed her and her neighbours.

“I sat in my home when I received a call to come to Mrs Adedoyin’s house for a half bag of rice, two 1kg bags of semovita, two bournvita cans size of grandnut oil, six sachets of salt and several cubes of Maggie. I cannot believe it. We are not talking about the usual one or two modules of rice, this is a half bag just for me and my family alone! Now, I have become a giver myself distributing rice to my neighbours. When I demanded to meet and thank the people who did such a wonderful thing like this, they were out of reach. I was told to pick my gifts and go because others are waiting”.

She added, “When a donor gives but does not want to say it, does not want it advertised, such donor is called a cheerful giver. I do pray that the people who did this, they will never lack in their lives”.
