COVID-19: NCDC Set to Visit Kogi State

The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) will soon visit Kogi and Cross River States to provide support to their response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Chairman, presidential taskforce on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha announced these following engagements with the two state governors.

The Taskforce Chairman made this known at its briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.

Mustapha added that NCDC will provide support to the State Emergency Operation Centres (EOCs), while it is also retooling all federal medical institutions as part of the overall support to Kogi and Cross River states.

He also announced extension of the ban on all flights for another 4 weeks in line with experts advice. Meanwhile, the Aviation Minister, Hidi Siriks had explained what is being done ahead of commencement of operations at the airports.

“Tomorrow (Thursday) marks the last day for the enforcement of the closure of Nigeria’s airspace to flights. We have assessed the situation in the aviation industry and have come to the conclusion that given the facts available to us and based on the advice of experts, the ban on all flights will be extended for an additional four weeks,” he said.

The Task Force has also alerted that the outcomes of the modelling it has adopted suggest that dangers lie ahead for the country.
