A magistrate’s court in Wuse Zone II, Abuja has remanded a member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Mr. Friday Sani, also known as Makama over an alleged unlawful possession of fire arms, ammunition and police walkie talkie.
Sani was remanded alongside a co-accused, Job David. They were arraigned by the police before Chief Magistrate Usman Shuaibu last Friday.
The court consequently adjourned to Tuesday to hear bail application filed by the accused persons’ lawyer.
According to the police’s First Information Report (FIR), the two accused persons contravened sections 27(1) of the Fire Arms Act CAP F28 LFN 2004, as well as criminal conspiracy and abatement contrary to section 97 and 85 of Penal Code law.
The FIR reads: “On June 4, 2013 at about 13:40 hours, you Friday Sani (aka Makama) and Job David were arrested in possession of AK47 rifle with 35 rounds of life ammunition and police walkie talkie and in the course of investigation it was discovered that you aided and abetted Emmanuel Shuaibu (aka Action), Mohammed Musa (aka Let’s Go), Friday Abams and Adeboni-Musa to possess fire arms including an AK47 rifle and ammunition by issuing them with AK47 rifle and ammunition, and you thereby committed the above-mentioned offences.”
