Council Polls: Action Alliance Chairmanship Candidate Unveils ‘Ijumu Food Sufficiency Scheme’

Chairmanship candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in Ijumu local government area of Kogi state, Hon Musa Olumayowa Yakubu, has promised to harness the abundant agricultural potentials in the area for food sufficiency and economic development.

Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja on Sunday, Musa said he has designed a template that will guarantee accelerated food production, storage and utilization for farmers across Ijumu LGA.

He disclosed that his ‘Ijumu Food Sufficiency Scheme’ (JMU FSS) template is an initiative that aims to ensure a surplus of food in Ijumu LGA.

“Under the Ijumu Food Sufficiency Scheme, we will register all interested farmers then organize them into clusters based on their products for enhanced coordination. There will be 75% sales guarantee for all registered farmers participating in JMU FSS.

“There will massive awareness campaigns on modern agricultural practices via seminars, expos, and various forums targeting the youth and capable individuals throughout the local government area.

“We will organize regular training and ensure adequate supply of agricultural inputs to all registered farmers,” he explained.

Hon Musa promised to construct silos and warehouses in Gbede, Ijumu Arin and Ijumu Oke areas of the local government and establish a Farmers Market at Iyara, the headquarters of Ijumu LGA.
