Council Election: Bashir Gegu Calls for Peace, Decorum, Civility

In preparations for the forthcoming Kogi State Council elections scheduled for Saturday, the 19th, the commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources in Kogi State, Hon. Engr Abubakar Bashir Gegu has underscored the significance of peace, Decorum and Civility

He has urged all chairmanship and councilorship candidates, political parties, and their supporters to uphold and respect the democratic process.

The commissioner in a statement made available to Electronic/ New Media Committee Kogi LGA, urged all stakeholders in the upcoming council elections to conduct themselves peacefully and sportingly.

Engr. Bashir Gegu who believes in the voters’ ability to make informed decisions about their future leaders also urged the politicians to respect the people’s will.

He emphasised that democracy thrives on civility, tolerance, patience, and respect for the rules of the game.

He noted that the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) has committed to conducting a free and fair election and urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure a successful and peaceful process.

Engr. Bashir Gegu urged all citizens in the Kogi State and particularly Kogi Koton Karfe Local Government to remain peaceful and respectful throughout the voting process while also encouraging them to resolve any disagreements amicably through the constituted authorities.
