Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and former National Welfare Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), U.O. Sule, has tasked young lawyers to embrace continuous learning.
U.O. Sule, SAN, who delivered a compelling goodwill address at the Nigerian Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Forum (YLF), Garki Branch’s Law and Inclusive Summit 2025, admonished early-career legal professionals to rise to the demands of a rapidly evolving legal landscape shaped by artificial intelligence (AI) and technological disruption.
Speaking at the Forum, U.O. Sule, SAN, emphasized that “lawyers are not merely interpreters of the law; we are social engineers, thought leaders, and pioneers of societal transformation.”

He urged young lawyers to recognize their crucial role in building the legal and ethical foundations of tomorrow’s society.
As the profession stands at the intersection of law and technology, he highlighted the imperative for young lawyers to stay ahead of the curve.
“In this age of AI, automation, and global legal innovation, you must constantly learn and relearn. The future will not wait. If you do not adapt, you will be left behind,” Sule, SAN stated.
He also noted that continuous learning is non-negotiable: “The modern lawyer must expand their knowledge beyond traditional legal practice to include technology, data privacy and intellectual property. Leadership Starts Now; Young lawyers must see themselves as future partners, judges, legislators, and advocates for justice. They must begin cultivating leadership, ethics, and resilience from the earliest stages of their careers.”
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria stressed the importance of seeking guidance, learning from senior colleagues, and upholding the highest standards of professional integrity and public service.
In his closing his remarks, U.O. Sule, SAN encouraged the audience to be bold in shaping the future: “The law will always evolve, but it is up to you—this generation of lawyers—to define its direction, its relevance, and its humanity.”.
He also added that as Young Lawyers, they must never compromise on their ethics and should always strive to maintain ethical practice.
He congratulated the YLF Garki Branch for their dedication and hard work, commended their efforts in organizing the event, and wished them a successful and impactful summit.
