The member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency and the deputy majority leader in the house of representatives, Honourable Umar Buba Jibril is set to commission an ultramodern fish market in Lokoja,
The ultramodern fish market is one of numerous projects executed by Buba for his constituents.
Buba made the disclosure at the flag off ceremony of his empowerment/skill acquisition program in Lokoja the Kogi state capital where 100 women were trained on various skills.
The ultramodern fish market is equipped with 2 giant cold rooms which will be serviced with a 65KVA generator to guarantee steady power supply and 10,000 litres capacity water tank to be supplied through motorised borehole.
Other facility includes fish dryer of 25KG, 50KG and 300KG respectively which will run on cooking gas and charcoal.
While speaking to the press in Lokoja, the Deputy Leader in the House of Representatives said the fish market is to position Lokoja as the hub for fish products in Nigeria and create thousands of jobs for the people of the area.
He lamented that Lokoja which produce fish in large quantity has become a dumping ground for fish imported from neighbouring states hence the need to reposition the area as the biggest market for fish products in Nigeria.
Hon Buba promised to provide take-up grant to the woman to enable them start the business and grow it to a sustainable level. The fish drying technology at the fish market can preserve dried fish for 4 months.
The obviously happy women in his constituency thanked Buba for always living up to expectation and promised to always support him in all his political aspirations.
