Senator Atai Aidoko Ali has threatened contractors handling various projects in the nine local government areas of Kogi East senatorial district to hasten up the process of job completion or risk been blacklisted by his office.
Senator Aidoko dropped this message over the weekend during the inspection of the on going electrification projects, boreholes and hospital in some part of Ofu and Olamaboro local government areas of Kogi East.
The senator warned that the era of contractors collecting money and abandoning projects is gone with the bad trend, promising to prosecute defaulting contractors who may intend to take such actions with regards to his constituency projects in Kogi East.
The Federal lawmaker said he will soon embark on the inspection in the remaining eight local government areas of Ofu, Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela-Odolu, Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina and Omala to ascertain the extent of job completion and prepare for the commissioning forthwith.
Aidoko stated that he had bored so much over the contractors lackadaisical attitude towards job execution and the impression of the people of Kogi East that he had deliberately refused to provide social amenities to the people as a member of the red chamber in the last six years.
Senator Aidoko promised to protect the interest of the people of Kogi East at all time and commended the contractors that handled the Iga Ugbamaka rural electrification and transformer installation as well as the boreholes at Okpo, Ugbamaka, Odobu-Okpo and Iga Ikeje, urging them to hasten the completion of other ones in the area.
He urged the community not to be discouraged by the singular idea of maintaining the provision of social infrastructure meant to alleviate the suffering of the people, saying he was not encouraged by the abandoned skill acquisition center, garri processing factory in Ugbamaka and the same center in Iga Ikeje as well as proposed cottage clinic in the area. He promised to do more in the area of bringing them back to full use.
Projects inspected include the extension of high tension wire from Onitcha Igbo junction to Ugbamaka at a cost of 60 million Naira, proposed 60-bedspace women and children hospital at Okpo to cost 200 million Naira, a borehole, newly provided transformer at Ogbagebe in Ofu local government area, skill acquisition center, cottage clinic in Iga iIeje, a borehole in Odobu-0kpo, office block of Iga primary school, the completed Ugbamaka Iga water scheme and the newly installed 500kva transformer.
