The Haddy Ametuo-led executive of All Progressives Congress (APC), Kogi state chapter, has the party and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court.
In the originating summons filed before the Federal High Court, Abuja on Friday, by Haddy Ametuo and Salam Tom Adejoh on behalf the Kogi State executive committee of APC, the plaintiffs demanded that the APC and INEC appear in court to answer questions pertaining to the legality of the ward, local and state congresses conducted in Kogi State.
The Ametuo-led faction seeks judicial interpretation of APC constitution and INEC guidelines for the conduct of congresses.
In the originating summons, they sought to know whether, upon interpretation of APC constitution and INEC guidelines for for congresses, the APC can constitutionally and lawfully refuse to accord due recognition to the Haddy Ametuo-led Kogi State executive committee of APC elected by virtue of the Kogi State Congress of the APC held on the 19th May, 2018 at Lokoja, Kogi State.
“Whether, upon interpretation of Article 20a of the constitution of APC and the party’s guidelines for Wards, Local Government Areas and State Congresses, the APC can constitutionally and lawfully refuse to accord due recognition to the Ametuo-led Kogi State executive committee of APC by virtue of Kogi State Congress of APC held on the 19th May, 2018 at Lokoja, Kogi State,” the summons read.
