Confidants Turned Critics: When Genuine Men of God Face Betrayal from Their Own Fold (Part1)

The heartbreak in today’s Church isn’t just from outside persecution—it’s from within. The very people who run to men of God in secret, pouring out their sins and seeking help, are often the loudest voices mocking and ridiculing those same pastors in public. A man of God chooses righteousness, refuses to be used for evil, and suddenly becomes the object of scorn. You offered huge amount of money and ask him to pray death on someone and he refuses—now he’s proud. You bring a fraudulent “seed” and he rejects it—now he’s fake.

People, no longer fear Men of God but treats them like witch doctors. I recall a brothel worker in Dubai begging me to pray for customers. Another came seeking prayer before committing abortion. A married woman demanded sex after a deliverance session. A Yahoo boy once brought a seed offering so he could attract more scam victims—I rejected it. These are real burdens we carry. Yet we cover people’s shame, never exposing what we know, because Christ teaches mercy. But when we show our human side—fatigue, correction, refusal—we’re dragged, insulted, and humiliated.

And it’s not just strangers. Sometimes, it’s fellow pastors, old mentees, Christian brothers and sisters. The same people clapping for native doctors and unbelievers as they drag pastors online would never dare ridicule their imam or traditional priest. But Christian tongues are the sharpest knives against Christian backs. The betrayal hurts more than any attack from the world.

Even spiritual giants weren’t spared. Prophet TB Joshua was crucified by fellow believers more than by outsiders. Even after dead, they still hates and mudsling him. Apostle Ayo Babalola’s own fold turned against him down to his wife. And yet, when they passed, many who once fed from their oil had no public gratitude. This generation doesn’t honour mantles—they use and discard them like old garments.

The pain is deeper because pastors can’t speak. If we do, it’s pride; if we’re silent, it’s guilt. We fast, pray, pay bills, counsel in darkness—but all it takes is one moment of misunderstanding and we’re labeled. We are fathers mocked by children we raised. One moment we are “Daddy,” or “Prophet prophesy,” the next we are “Fraud.”

But we will not bow to bitterness. The resurrection was louder than Judas’ betrayal. Men of God must remain focused—on their knees, with clean oil, blessing even those who curse. Our vindication is not in trending, but in eternity. Jesus too was betrayed by one of His own.

To those who mock, beware. You may trend for a day, but heaven records eternally. And to every wounded minister out there—don’t quit. Your scars are proof you carried people, and God will reward the ones who didn’t drop His cross halfway.
