The exemplary leadership and commitment of Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna, the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, in ensuring the security and well-being of residents has caught the attention of Comrade Rufus Obafemi, a prominent figure in the community.
Comrade Rufus Obafemi, the Personal Assistant to the Governor(Ministry of Education), commended Chairman Haruna for his proactive stance in addressing the security challenges facing Ijumu LGA.
In a statement issued in Lokoja on Thursday, Rufus highlighted the Chairman’s unwavering dedication to collaborating with local vigilantes, hunters, and the Joint Task Force (JTF) to root out criminals and ensure the safety of the community.
“Chairman Haruna’s willingness to venture into the bush and confront bandits head-on demonstrates his strong commitment to maintaining peace and security within the local government.
“In addition to his efforts on the ground, Chairman Haruna has also been instrumental in aligning his vision with that of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, particularly in the area of security. The Governor’s focus on empowering local stakeholders, such as the 1,050 Kogi hunters who were provided with security gadgets and materials for community policing, has significantly bolstered security measures in Ijumu LGA.
“Furthermore, the provision of vehicles and motorcycles has enhanced patrol operations and improved rapid response capabilities, further solidifying the security infrastructure of the area,” he said.
Comrade Rufus Obafemi urged citizens of Ijumu to continue to support Chairman Haruna and Governor Ododo in their tireless efforts to maintain peace and security within the local government, adding that “the visible impact of their collaborative initiatives has resulted in a tangible reduction in crime rates, creating a safer environment for all residents of Ijumu”.
Furthermore, Comrade Rufus Obafemi specifically acknowledged the proactive approach of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in upholding safety and security not only in Ijumu LGA but across the entirety of Kogi State.
He noted that Governor Ododo’s commitment to regular security meetings to address concerns and his emphasis on community involvement in tackling security challenges have been instrumental in creating a cohesive and secured environment for the residents of the state.
