Leading aspirant for the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) presidency, Comrade Isah Onimisi Babangida, has officially launched his national campaign team, signaling a major push in his quest to lead the country’s foremost youth body.

At an unveiling ceremony held in Abuja, Babangida reiterated his commitment to repositioning the NYCN as a credible platform for youth engagement and empowerment. He commended key youth stakeholders, including Seyi Tinubu, whom he described as “a consistent supporter of young people across the country,” and Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, for what he called “progressive steps in youth inclusion.” He also praised Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, for “creating space for youth voices in governance.”

Outlining his agenda, Babangida promised to champion government programs that deliver sustainable productivity and job creation. “Our priority is to ensure every intervention directly impacts the young Nigerian, creating jobs, boosting innovation, and uniting our youth regardless of ethnicity, religion, or region,” he said.

The aspirant stressed the need to strengthen youth participation in governance and pledged to collaborate with the federal government to push policies that open up opportunities. He also vowed to demand accountability for youth-targeted funds, including the ₦75 billion Nigerian Youth Investment Fund, promising transparency and proper utilization.

In his words: “We will not tolerate the mismanagement of resources meant for the empowerment of our generation. Every naira must work for Nigerian youth.”

Babangida used the platform to introduce a Ten-member campaign team, which he described as “a reflection of Nigeria’s diversity and competence.” The team is led by Comrade Bamidele Osaade as Director-General, with Hon. Aisha Jafar as Deputy Director-General, alongside others overseeing administration, publicity, programs, finance, and mobilization.

He urged young Nigerians to channel their creativity and energy towards building a stronger nation. “The NYCN is not just about politics; it is about shaping the future of this country. Together, we can make it happen,” he added.

With his campaign now formally underway, Babangida appears set to compete vigorously for the NYCN’s top position, promising a leadership style that blends accountability, innovation, and inclusivity.
