The Central Planning Committee of Iyara Cultural Day has announced the date for the 2025 special edition.
According to a statement by the National President of Iyara Development Association (IDA), Dr. Aliyu Badaki and the Director General of Iyara Cultural Day, Mr. Samuel Olorundare after a virtual meeting of the Committee, arrangements are in top gear for this year’s edition of the celebration.
The Day is an annual rebirth of the indigenous culture of the people of Iyara and apart from the celebration of the well organised rich indigenous culture of the community, it will also feature the launching of a N250m appeal fund for community development projects.
Some notable Nigerians from both within and outside Kogi state, traditional rulers, sons and daughters of the community from all spheres of life, are expected to attend the epoch making ceremony.
“The Iyara Cultural Day remains a tool for promoting unity in our community as it gives us another opportunity to celebrate our unique culture such as Are Iyawo (traditional marriage ceremony of yore), masquerades and cultural troupes,” the statement said.
The statement equally noted that the ceremony which is usually held on the last Saturday of October yearly, 25th of 2025 has been fixed for this year’s edition will commence at 10am at the Captain Smart Olaiya Civic Centre, Iyara Ijumu.
According to the Director, Media and Publicity of the committee, Emmanuel Oluwakorede, the raffle draw, which is one of the climax of the celebration, has been repackaged to serve spectators and lovers of Iyara better as more prizes are up for grab.
Oluwakorede said sales of the raffle tickets will soon commence at Iyara, Lokoja, Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ilorin and other branches of IDA across the country.
