The lawmaker representing Okene l State constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawi AT Ahmed, has donated cash to the farmers in Onyikoko Ward, Okene Kogi State.
Lawi, who is the member representing Okene l in the State Assembly, said the gesture was part of his promise to the farmers in his constituency.
“The disbursement is to enable the beneficiaries this year yam seedlings and other farm products, which will help them cater for their immediate families and reduce hunger,” he said.
The lawmaker recalled that last year, he distributed grinding machines, motorcycles and sewing machines and washing machine to some of his constituents.
Lawi said he also renovated boreholes across the seven wards of his constituency, fencing of Ebira Eid praying ground, donation of 10,000 exercise books and 5,000 school bags, donation of computer sets to school, and many more in the last three years.
He said: “In addition, I am also building a laboratory at the Okene General Hospital that will benefit the entire people of Ebiraland and Kogi State in general.”
The lawmaker noted that the empowerment would reduce suffering among farmers of his constituents.
According to him, the bad economy has become unbearable, though the lawmaker is working on how to use legislative actions to ameliorate the challenges of the people.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain promised quality representation and thanked his constituents for their support and loyalty.
The farmers hailed Hon. Lawi AT Ahmed for his gesture and pledge their total support for his re-election and vote for all the candidates of APC in the forthcoming general election.
