The outcome of the nationwide bye-elections held on August 16, 2023, and the recent Edo and Ekiti governorship polls, should be a wake up call to the opposition coalition. If they truly hope to be taken seriously after 2031, they must stop selling Nigerians fiction and start facing facts.

Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, politics is no longer a game of empty rhetoric. It has become the science of governance, built on planning, reforms, and measurable results. Nigerians are now living in the reality of nation building, not the fantasy world of slogans and propaganda.

From the very beginning, President Tinubu took the bold steps others feared: he ended the fraudulent fuel subsidy, unified the exchange rate, and launched massive infrastructure investments. At the same time, he introduced social safety nets, student loans, cash transfers, and agricultural support to protect the most vulnerable during the transition.

This is political science in action, diagnosing problems, applying solutions, and cushioning citizens while reforms take effect.

The opposition coalition, on the other hand, had decades in power but wasted the opportunity. They looted oil wealth, entrenched corruption, and manipulated exchange rates for personal gain. They weaponised poverty and abandoned infrastructure, leaving Nigerians in ruins.

Now, shamelessly, they try to rewrite history by blaming Asiwaju Tinubu for the hardship that is the direct result of their misrule. Their narrative is pure fiction an attempt to pose as saviours when in truth they are the architects of Nigeria’s decline.

The bye election results show that Nigerians are not fooled. The loudest voices against reform come from a desperate opposition whose avenues of corruption have been blocked. Nigerians understand that sacrifice today is the price of prosperity tomorrow.

You cannot rebuild a house you set on fire. You cannot sell fiction where facts are clear.

As 2027 approaches, the opposition coalition will continue to peddle deception. But Nigerians will remember who looted the nation and who is rebuilding it. They will choose science over fantasy, courage over cowardice, and reform over corruption.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be remembered as the leader who reintroduced discipline, vision, and scientific rigor into politics laying the foundation for a stronger Nigeria.
