Clean Environment, Kogites Urged to Have Change in Attitude

People living in Kogi State have been asked to have a change in attitude towards environmental cleanliness and sanitation.

The Kogi State Deputy Governor Yomi Awoniyi, gave the advice while in Uyo the Akwa Ibom State Capital for the Nigerian Institute of Management National Conference.

Yomi Awoniyi made the appeal when he paid a visit to the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Her Honour, Noble Lady Valerie Eba.

Awoniyi, in a statement issued in Lokoja, said after his inspection and observation of the clean sanitary environment in Uyo, the culture and involvement of the people in sanitation process, as influenced by their attitude, largely accounted for the success of the cleanliness in Akwa Ibom State.

According to him,”aside Government’s plan towards a healthy environment, the deep resolve of the people to key into government’s plan of action as regards sanitation and as complemented by the citizenry largely accounted for the success story”.

The Deputy Governor commended the desire of the people to willingly maintain a clean environment, appealed to people living in Kogi State to take a cue and imbibe the culture of keeping their environment clean.

While noting that Capt Idris Wada the State Governor has shown so much commitment in the sanitary condition of the state capital,the recent signing into law of the sanitation and waste management board bill he added is another step geared towards reinforcing the administration’s resolve to make the state habitable in line with best practices.

In her remarks, Her Honour, Noble Lady Valerie Eba, Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State said the state was able to achieve the sanitation milestone with the resolve of the people to have a change in attitude.

Valerie Eba commended the Governor Godswill Akpabio’s efforts in urban renewal,a feat she noted has assisted greatly in the cleanliness and sanitation of the state.
