The people of Kogi State have been urged to be supportive of the new administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the rapid socio-economic development of the state.
One-time speaker and acting governor of the state, Chief Clarence Olafemi gave the advice in an exclusive interview in Lokoja, the state capital.
Chief Olafemi said the current political situation in the state was divine and a lesson to the country and therefore, appealed for mutual cooperation to reposition the state.
He explained that the decision of the leadership of the party to back Alhaji Yahaya Bello is to safeguard the victory of the party at the last governorship election.
Chief Olafemi advised politicians to always imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship as well as give-and-take in their quest for power, urging support of the political class for the new helmsman.
The ex-speaker assured of his readiness to serve the state in any capacity, noting that his loyalty is above personal and other mundane interests.
Speaking on the President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade, Chief Olafemi commended the courage of the present administration to recover looted funds.
He called on the people, especially the political class to be disciplined and always work for the larger interest of the country.
