The senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District Air Marshal Isaac Mohammed Alfa ( Rtd) has urged Christians all over the world to imbibe the teaching of Jesus Christ while assuring the people of Kogi East Senatorial District not to be bothered by the recently Appeal Court judgement on the determination of the rightful candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Kogi Senatorial Election in 2015.

In his message, he said;  “On behalf of the Good People of Kogi East Senatorial District and on my own behalf and my family, I wish to convey my Christmas greetings to you and also to wish you a prosperous new year”

“The essence of Christmas is for the season to teach us to uphold the very values Jesus taught and embodied. By calling to care for those in need, the sick, the hungry and the poor. As we have always lived together in unity and solidarity throughout history, we shall continue to regard the diversities in our State and country as a source of richness; and we shall continue to build up the future together on the basis of respect for each other.

“Let me use this opportunity to express my gratitude to almighty God for His love and care and my deepest appreciation to the people of Kogi East Senatorial District for their support and believe in my leadership as their senator.

“I want to assure you all that nothing has happened to the mandate you gave me in July 2016 to speak for you and to represent your interest in the National Assembly as your senator. The mandate you bestowed upon me stand for prosperity, happiness and confidence in the future of our Zone; a mandate that has taken us from legislative darkness, misery and hopelessness to a mandate of purposeful representation and respect for one another. We have been striving to bring about this mandate and with your untiring support and contributions, we are collectively justifying it.

“In three months in the National Assembly as your Senator, I have moved motions of senatorial and national interests, I have engaged some of our youths in a World Bank mechanised Agricultural training programme and other entrepreneurial endeavours, enrolment of some of our qualified applicants into some security agencies and a bill that will have huge impact on the lives of our people in Kogi State positively is underway while plans to touch every community in our constituency is also about to kick off.

“Let me equally use this auspicious occasion to urge you to disregard the recently purported and financially induced Appeal Court judgement given on the rightful owner of the PDP ticket for Kogi East Senatorial District. It was a sign that those that have impoverished our region who are also jealous of our collective achievement and progress are fighting back. No matter their evil plans and machinations, we will triumph over them because we have moved from a pervasive culture of poor representation to purposeful representation. We have moved from an era of impunity and elite arrogance to a period of accountability and respect for every sons and daughters of our great zone, regardless of tribe, gender, religion, region or political persuasion.

“That Appeal Court judgment is a dangerous act of political advocacy that completely ignored the truth and justice and embraced the moneybags. It was a judgement that was widely believed to be conspicuously devoid of reason, logic and depth. The judgement has been appealed and currently before the court where the judges with integrity shall do justice to our mandate.

“I want all of us to preserve the core values that enabled us achieve success in 2016 and previous years; selflessness, honour, resilience and humility among others.

“The year 2017 may bring new promises and challenges. We will undoubtedly be confronted with lots of challenges, but I am confident that with our spirit and experience, and resilience, we will prevail. Not only shall we survive those challenges; working together with patriotism and commitment, we shall also achieve greater successes for Kogi East and Kogi State in general”.

“Finally, I urge you all to continue your unflinching support for the change programme of President Mohammed Buhari. I equally enjoin you to continue to support the State Government in its quest to improve the security situation in our dear State and bring the much-needed dividends of democracy closer to our people
