The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole has felicitated with all Kogites and Nigerians at Christmas, urging them to live in harmony with others and also show love to one another.
In a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Femi Olugbemi, the Speaker who is also the National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of state legislatures of Nigeria, implored Kogites to be at peace with one another now and always as taught us by Jesus Christ.
While saying that Jesus Christ was the reason for the season, the Speaker harped on the need for peaceful coexistence, saying that; “Today, we are celebrating the birth of our Lord and Saviour and therefore, let us use this moment for deep reflection on our relationship with others. Let us do the right thing by living in harmony with others. Love should reign in our hearts always”.
“As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, may the joy of the Season bring peace and prosperity to all our people. Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year”, he said.
He used the opportunity once again to appreciate Governor Yahaya Bello, his wife, Hajia Rashida Bello, and other important dignitaries who graced the occasion of his wife burial in both Lokoja and Kabba, praying that God shall continue protect and guide each and everyone going into the new year.
In same vein, the clerk of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaj Ibrahim Isa-Amoka, called on the people of the state, particularly the Christian folks, to emulate Jesus Christ in their conduct.
The clerk who stated this in his felicitation message to the Christians and staff of the Assembly on the occasion of the 2021 Christmas celebrations, stressed the need for the people to be selfless, just Christ lived a selfless life during his apostolic work on earth.
The clerk admonished Christian faithful to imbibe the core Christian values of peace, love and harmony.
He urged Christians to continue to exemplify the virtues of love and care, especially for the less privileged persons in the society as demonstrated by Jesus Christ during his life time on earth.
Isa-Amoka stressed the need for the people to seize the opportunity of the yuletide to foster the spirit of unity and harmonious co-existence irrespective of tribal, ethnic and religious divides.
While praying for God’s divine intervention and blessings upon all families and households, the clerk called for special prayers for sustained peace, progress and genuine strive to overcome all challenges confronting the State and the Nation.
“Christ lived a selfless life here on earth, he was willing to make sacrifices for the people at the expenses of his own life.
“I enjoin everyone, Christians and non-Christians, to be ready to make one sacrifice or the other for us to have a better society and overcome the challenges of insecurity confronting the state and the nation.
“Christ preached peace, lived a life of peace. I called on all of us, traditional and and religious leaders to be peaceful and preach Peace at all times.”
