Despite economy hardship facing the country, member representing Lokoja 11 Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Idris Ndako, Friday distributed over 2000 bags of rice to the people of his constituency.
While distributing the materials he said his assistance to the less privileged has nothing to do with his rumoured ambition to contest the 2019 house of representatives race. He maintained that his aim was to serve his constituency meritoriously at the House of Assembly and fulfill his 2015 election promises.
“What I need from you all is prayers for Allah to guide and protect me to complete the mandate you gave me meritoriously”, he said.
Ndako, who is also a Felele community leader in Lokoja local government area, spoke while distributing food items to the leader of Christian community in Felele led by Rev Mike Peters, who double as the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Felele unit.
He thanked the Christian community for their support and assured them of his determination to provide the dividends of democracy to the people of his constituency irrespective of religious or tribal differences.
Responding, Rev. Mike Peters who led Christians faithfuls in prayers for the lawmaker, commended him for his commitments towards alleviating the plights of his people.
The man of God who received bags of rice on behalf of Churches prayed for God’s protection and guidance as the lawmaker pilot the affairs of his constituents.
When asked by reporters if the empowerment programmes he’s embanking upon is meant to promote his ambitious against 2019, especially House of representative race, Ndako said, “People are saying that I am taking advantage of assisting people as a plan for 2019 House of Reps race. For now, my important focus is to see how I will use the opportunity of my constituency seat to serve my people in conformity with the pledges and promises I made to them before the 2015 election. You can’t stop people from talking and praying for you; but for now, I want to make sure that I please and appease them.”
“I am here in fulfillment of that very promise to feed my people and to make sure the Christmas turns out to be a memorable one for them”, he stressed.
Some the beneficiaries who spoke with this reporter thanked Hon Ndako for coming into aide at this trying period.
Mrs Grace John a widow and mother of five,explained that she came right away from Adankolo:” I came right from Adankolo when I hard about it,I was a beneficiary last December and have been looking forward to this day,in fact am overwhelmed, may God bless Ndako ” She said
