Speech by Engr. Yisah Yakubu Adajah

At the Handover and Retirement Ceremony, PEEMADI Okene

Good [morning/afternoon],
The management staff, esteemed colleagues, and friends,

It is with a deep sense of humility and gratitude that I stand before you today—as I bring to a close my journey in active service and officially hand over the responsibilities of the Managing Director/Chief Executive of this great institution, the Power Equipment and Electrical Mechanical Development Institute (PEEMADI).

This moment is both reflective and emotional. It marks not just the end of my tenure but the conclusion of a journey that has been deeply rewarding and inspiring. As I bow out, I do so with pride in our collective achievements and great hope for the brighter future ahead.

I begin by thanking the Almighty God for granting me life, strength, and wisdom to serve. I express my sincere gratitude to the leadership of NASENI, particularly the Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, and my former boss, Engr. M.S. Haruna, whose confidence in me and constant support were instrumental to my journey here.

To my management team, departmental heads, engineers, researchers, and all staff—I say a heartfelt thank you. Your dedication, creativity, and resilience were the driving force behind all our successes.

During my stewardship, we achieved significant milestones:

Over 12 innovative research products developed, including a Multi-Phase Transformer Training Device, Fuel-less Generator, Solar Generator, Car Security Device, and a Microcontroller-Based Solar Dryer.

Patented technologies, such as the Solar Photovoltaic Training Device and LPG Leakage Detector, positioning PEEMADI as a leader in indigenous innovation.

Major infrastructural developments at the permanent site—construction of workshops, training centers, ICT facilities, administrative buildings, internal roads, and provision of staff and research equipment.

Capacity-building workshops that not only trained professionals in power and solar technology but also generated revenue for the Institute.

Strengthened staff welfare, community relations, and corporate image, while launching the maiden staff productivity and reward system.

We also laid foundations for the future with ongoing projects, including the Hybrid Electric Car, Smart Infant Incubator, and biomedical equipment prototypes. These initiatives demonstrate our enduring vision for technological advancement and national development.

None of this would have been possible without your commitment, teamwork, and belief in our mission.

As I retire, I urge the incoming leadership, staff, and stakeholders to continue in unity, innovation, and excellence. The journey of PEEMADI has only just begun, and I am confident that the future will be even greater.

Though I leave office today, I remain forever connected to this institution—in spirit, in vision, and in pride.

May God bless you all.
May God bless PEEMADI.
May God bless our great nation.

Thank you.
