Kogi United played a goalless draw against Nasarawa united on Monday in their opening group stage match and are billed to take on defending champions Akwa United by 2 pm on Wednesday and finally play Wikki Tourists on Friday.
The club may not play those remaining games due to cash crisis. At the moment, the players have no guarantee on where to sleep and what to eat. The in-form players are expected to play Wednesday match on empty stomach.
One of the players, who spoke to Kogireports, called on Kogi State government to come to the rescue of the team and save its face from national embarrassment as the organizers may not be happy if the football clubside pull out abruptly from the oldest and most glamorous football competition in the country.
The female team Confluence Queens are also in Enugu for the same competition and are reportedly going through the same challenges.
