The Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mallam Hussain Halilu Pai, has disclosed that the   introduction of card reader by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the just-concluded general election in the country was responsible for its credible conduct.

Speaking during the presentation of certificate of returns to 25 elected members of the state House of Assembly, Halilu Pai insisted that the introduction of permanent voter cards and card readers gave credibility to the election which, to him, was adjudged the best election ever conducted in the country.

He added that INEC, under Professor Attahiru Jega, had come of age to overcome challenges of previous elections.

The presentation of certificate of return, he said, was to confirm to the recipients that one had to be magnanimous in victory and commended the losers for accepting it in good faith.

Pai commended INEC officials, ad hoc staff, corps members and security agents for ensuring peaceful and credible election in the state and the nation, saying that many had thought the nation would be engulfed in violence after the election.

Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council in the state, Ibrahim Itodo, advised the House of Assembly members-elect to work in the interest of the people and the state in their legislative activities.
