Thursday’s event was characterized with beehives of activities in Kabawa as a result of PDP’s campaign tour ahead of the February 16 and 2nd March, 2019 general elections.
The unprecedented thousands of people who gathered at the square will be an indelible recorded event in the history of Lokoja that has never taken place in the town as road from Nataco through Felele were busied with commuters, vans and tricycle conveying people to the venue.
The uncommon crowd, to many, is an indication that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a party to beat in Nigeria and Kogi state. As its enshrined in the democracy norms and principles, people are the leaders leading in an indirect ways by electing few individuals to lead them by way of delegation or representation.
The anomalous large assembly of people are mostly loyalists and supporters of Hon Suleiman Babadoko who to them has perfected and redefining leadership in another form while serving in the 5th assembly especially in health, education, Youths and women empowerment.
The Kabawa square which filled to its capacity with an overflows of people in it’s four basic corners, hearing the high output of gigantic public address in its succinct clarity. The influx of people from major roads of Lokoja has resulted to traffic jambs in most of the roads.
Enterprising Youths and Women have leveraged on the multiplier effects of the campaign flag off to earn a living. Selling foods and drinks of differences types,vendors of all sorts had their field day by making good sales.
In an interview to some participants, they revealed that their coming is to prove to the world that Hon Babadoko is the next House of assembly member by God’s willing, because he proved beyond reasonable doubts that he has done well as the messenger of the masses in the Last 4 years.
Isa Adamu who came into Lokoja from Abuja three days before the commencement of the event, described Hon Babadoko as a worthy servant, who gave his best stewardship to the people of the Constituency in an unreserved form and they will give him all the support to come back again for the second term under the PDP banner.
Another participant from Koto who call himself Gimba Ibrahim, a die-hard and staunch supporter of Hon Barr Shaba Ibrahim said he sold his Goats and grains just to sponsor people to attend the occasion.
“I don’t want processed information, I want to be a living witness in order to be a good town crier and a testify of what actually happen at Lokoja today, I decided to sell my goats for our next Rep member,” he said
To Baba Jiki,a member of PDP simply said “Dino,Shaba, Babadoko, and principal is victory assured in 2019 insha Allah (God’s willing) because we don’t have their type in the current Lokoja political dispensation”
Another celebration part of the event is the number of those defected to the PDP in order to support Babadoko’s second term dream ambition. About 8 house of assembly aspirants from various parties came out to follow PDP with hundreds of their supporters.
