Dear Senator Dino Melaye,

Heartfelt Congratulations and a Call for Responsible Conduct

I write to you with great warmth and admiration to extend my heartfelt congratulations on your successful completion of the Nigerian Law School and your recent Call to the Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This remarkable achievement is no small feat, and it is a testament to your resilience, courage, and commitment to personal growth and national service. I join millions of Nigerians and well-wishers around the world in celebrating this new chapter in your life.

Your journey, marked by a passion for activism and fearless engagement in national discourse, is well known. And now, having been called to the noble profession of the Bar, you carry a higher moral and civic responsibility. The legal profession is not only a calling but a sacred duty—one that demands dignity, restraint, wisdom, and above all, service to justice and truth.

It is on this note that I humbly appeal to you to embrace your new role with a deep sense of maturity and responsibility. The courtroom is not the campaign ground, and the Bar is not a battlefield for political jousting. As a learned colleague, you now share in the legacy of legal minds who have shaped the destiny of this nation not with noise, but with reasoned argument, principle, and service.

Sir, Nigeria today faces immense challenges—economic uncertainty, political instability, and social discontent. These are sensitive times, and actions that provoke unrest, politicize judicial issues, or incite division can further deepen our national wounds. Matters such as the state of emergency in Rivers State, fuel subsidy concerns, Local Government Autonomy, and the floating of the Naira are best addressed through institutions, dialogue, and the rule of law—not an escalation in constitutional confrontation with the presidency or engaging in avoidable provocations.

We need leaders who will unite, not polarize; who will build, not scatter. As a newly robed advocate of justice, you have the opportunity to set a new standard of conduct—one that upholds the honor of the Bar and gives respect to the Bench. The nation watches, and the legal profession expects you to rise to this calling.

Senator, the robe you now wear is symbolic of purity, justice, and service. Let it not be stained by controversy or mischief. Let your voice be one of wisdom and moderation, not incitement. Let your legacy reflect legal excellence and national development, not mere bravado.

I wish you continued success and pray that wisdom, restraint, and a genuine love for Nigeria will guide your path.

Yours faithfully,

OluwaKayode Emmanuel Eseyin
PDP Youth Leader, Kabba/Bunu, Kogi State
