By Musa Bakare.
For decades, Nigerian politicians have behaved as though the people were a blank slate to be scribbled upon with lies, deceit, and empty promises. Every election season, they dust off the same tired speeches, recycle hollow pledges, and return with arrogance, believing Nigerians will clap, nod, and vote for them regardless of past betrayals. It is a gross insult to the intelligence of a people who have endured, suffered, and survived the worst excesses of misrule. For those who ruined Nigeria’s economy to now be parading themselves as a those on rescue mission, this is nothing short of mockery.
The Nigerian people are not who these politicians think they are. They are not gullible. Nigerians are among the most intelligent, discerning, and resilient human beings on earth. They know who plundered the treasury, who pocketed subsidy billions, who inflated contracts, who shared the nation’s wealth among cronies, and who danced on podiums while factories collapsed and youths languished without jobs.
They also know and have seen President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who had the courage to confront long-m standing frauds, who is building roads and railways, reviving industries, and making the painful but necessary choices to secure Nigeria’s future.
Those who imagine that Nigerians cannot tell the difference between truth and deceit are grossly mistaken. The people see clearly. The people know. They have seen Jagaban perform where others failed woefully, reforming and transforming. Come 2027, the people will speak with their ballot papers. They will reward performance, not indolence. They will honour courage, not empty rhetoric.
For too long, politicians relied on what they assumed was the short memory of Nigerian voters. They believed yesterday’s scandals would fade into silence and today’s lies would be swallowed whole. But Nigerians are never that forgetful. With every passing year, with every hardship, and with every broken promise, the people have sharpened their memories. They are recording who betrayed them and who stood with them. They remember who wasted their oil wealth and who is striving to build a productive nation.
Nigerians are now washing their hands with the waters of truth and discernment. They will not eat at the same table with liars anymore. They will not be fooled again. The days of deceit are over.
Let the politicians take note, the season of cheap propaganda, reckless promises, and insults to the collective intelligence of the people has ended. Nigerians are not pawns. They are not blind. They are not fools. They are watching closely, weighing actions, not slogans.
In 2027 and beyond, Nigerians will not return to the vomit of yesterday. They will not reward those who stole their future with another chance. They will stand firmly with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the man who had the courage to confront the hard truths.
The age of deceit is finished. Nigerians have seen too much, suffered too long, and endured too many cycles of betrayal to remain perpetual victims. Let the political class understand, Nigerians are not gullible. Nigerians are discerning. Come 2027, Nigerians will decide their destiny with eyes wide open, voting massively to renew the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
