Given the high expectations from different sections of Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress Campaign Coordinator of Kogi State in this year’s general elections, Ocholi James (SAN), has said President Muhammadu Buhari is under pressure, which he described as normal.
The APC chieftain who was addressing visiting members of the APC Igala Forum, Abuja noted that even the president had said the challenges were enormous, but not insurmountable, adding that “President Buhari would be equal to the task.”
The SAN, once a defence counsel of the president at an election tribunal, said “the president has started well. He is tackling the challenges one by one first with insecurity with the order to the military high command to move the Defence Headquarters to Borno.”
He said the process of moving the logistics to the North-east was already on as well as the partnership with foreign support with the intention of rounding up the insurgents and dealing with them once and for all. “The military would be fighting to root the insurgents out finally,” Ocholi said.
Ocholi who is aspiring to be governor of Kogi State, has also debunked insinuation that he was being pencilled down by the president for a ministerial appointment, saying “Buhari has not called me to tell me he will give me a ministerial post just as lobbying is not the best thing for him. Buhari always likes to surprise you.
“I am sure he has penciled down those he wants, and if he calls me to be a minister I would accept, but that would not stop somebody from being a governor,” Ocholi said.
Earlier, chairman of the APC Igala Forum, Abuja, Uthman Ibn Muhammad Odu, said they had come to congratulate him for successfully delivering the state to the APC in the presidential and National Assembly elections.
