Kogi State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, yesterday, assessed the statement and steps taken by President Muhammadu Buhari so far, saying they have assured Nigerians that the president is on the right track.
Bello, who spoke in Abuja, said the president has hit the ground running by identifying core areas he intended to pursue as president, saying it has assured those of them in the APC that the promise of change for a better Nigeria would be realised.
“The president spoke on corruption and has assured that he will tackle it. He was right to move the military command structure to Maiduguri because it is one thing to be receiving reports and another thing to be there. I believe that is what he meant when he said he would lead the fight against insurgents.
“As somebody with military background he knows exactly what to do and how to tackle the security situation in the country.”
Bello, who is the leader of the Kogi Youth Arise Group, attributed the success of the APC in Kogi to the devotion and commitment of some of them, advising the APC leaders to resist the urge to impose leaders on the party because doing so was one the reasons that led to the defeat of the PDP in Kogi State.
He promised to key into the agenda of the president to make Kogi better, if elected into office.
“I want you to take note of this, I will not tamper with the funds meant for Kogi State. I want you take note of this so that you can ask me when I get there. I don’t lie and I will not lie about this one.”
