Boko Haram: Kogi Teenager Arrested at Abuja Airport

Nigeria secret police, the Department of State Services (DSS) has announced that it arrested  a 14 year old Kogi boy spying on travellers, aviation installations and facilities last Monday  at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

DSS said the arrest of the teenager, identified as one Sulaiymon Abdulrahman , also known as  Sunday Ajayi,  was done in liaison with security officials  of the Airport has disrupted a spying network mounted at the facility which is the major point of entrance into Nigeria’s federal capital territory.

Ban ki-Moon, the Secretary General of United Nations had arrived Nigeria for a two days visit through the Airport a day before the arrest of the teenager.

He departed Nigeria from the same Airport on Monday evening.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Tony Opuiyo spokesperson for the DSS said the suspect who is from Kogi State, in central Nigeria,  disclosed among others, that he infiltrated the airport with the assistance of one Dauda SADIQ (a.k.a Peter) who is presently at large.

“Abdulrahman further revealed that Dauda Sadiq directed him to spy on the installation and pass to him information in respect of traveller’s movement including passenger screening, boarding procedures and other processes in the departure and arrival halls.

DSS said further that “With this knowledge, the Service is working closely with major Aviation stakeholders especially the Aviation Security Department to forestall any possible attack and to ensure adequate security at the airports.

“This is aside other measures which have been put in place to ensure protection of lives and property across the country,” said DSS.

The secret police however reminded all members of the public to remain vigilant and patriotic by being security conscious at all times.

DSS equally urged members of the public to report all issues and persons of suspicion to the nearest security agency.

Nigerians were further enjoined to assist with information that could be useful in stamping out insecurity with a view to making Nigeria safe.
