The senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye has indicated that Governor Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna State was merely speaking the mind of the All progressives Congress (APC) when he threatened foreign observer missions that they would be slaughtered should they interfere with Nigeria internal affairs.
He was speaking against the backdrop of the statement credited to El-Rufai that foreign powers planning to interfere in next Saturday’s elections will “leave Nigeria in body bags.”
Melaye said the Kaduna State Governor’s threats represents the real intentions of the ruling party.
Speaking with newsmen after his thank you tour of Kogi local government on Thursday, Melaye said APC is synonymous with violence.
“He is a representative of the APC, dog cannot give birth to a monkey. Violence is typical of APC,” he said.
The senator stated that the people of Kogi West have lost faith in the APC-led governments at all levels due to their anti-people programmes that has led to pervasive hunger and starvation.

He said that available records also shows that Kogi state records the highest rate of hunger induced ulcer patients in the country.
Melaye said that the pervasive and unprecedented hunger ravaging the country, including Kogi state, have made the people to have a rethink and pitch their tent with the People Democratic Party (PDP).
“I am here in continuation of my consultation, to solicit for the people’s vote and to express appreciation for their tremendous support for my second term senatorial ambition.
“As you can see, the level of support and acceptability is massive. It shows that people are disenchanted with the APC led administration at all levels and ready to switch over to PDP,” he said.
Addressing newsmen, former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon. Tolorunju Faniyi said the coast is clear for the re-election of Melaye.
“His chances are very bright. You can see it for yourself, we have gone through the nooks and crannies of Kogi West and I can testify that his acceptability is very high. I think they have come to the realization that Melaye is needed now than ever before. The projects he facilitated, about 147 has justified that he should be given a second term and that is why the youths, women and everybody in communities across Kogi West are passionate about his re-election,” he said.
