In an efforts to alleviate the suffering of the masses, a public-spirited resident of Karaworo Street in Lokoja, Kogi State, Hon. Tijjani Shehu Bin-Ebaiya, is, at his own expense, repairing the blocked water pipes that supply water to about four communities.
Bin-Ebaiya, undertook a major burst on a pipeline carrying water from the uper Karaworo to wards C and D which has thrown the area into water shortage as water distribution to many residences have been greatly affected.
The initial works undertaken by the Philanthropist included the removal of debris that blocked the pipes and replacement of damaged pipes.
Speaking to this report at the site, Bin-Ebaiya said the water pipe repairs were his personal contribution to the development of the community.
“I am a Lokojan and I live in this community. This is the little I can do to help my community. If we come together as a team, we can do great things,” he said.
Bin-Ebaiya who is also a local government chairmanship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said “I hoped that a lot of people will show such acts of selflessness to help their communities and the state at large.
In recognition of the good work, leaders of the affected wards sent a delegation to meet with Hon. Bin-Ebaiya to commend him for making the community come alive.
The delegation which was led by Danjuma Sulaiman, pledged its support for Hon. Bin-Ebaiya and presented him with an award.
A resident, Mallam Aliyu Bello, said he was surprised to see water flowing through his tap after about two years.
Bello lamented that he spent about N1,500 daily to buy water from water vendors.
