A bill to convert Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa to the Federal University of Education has passed second reading at the House of Representatives.
Considering report on the bill in the Committee of the Whole on Thursday, Rep. Mohammed Monguno stated that the Bill emanated from the Senate.
The bill, sponsored on the floor of the senate by Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho in 2020, seeks to upgrade the College of Education, Ankpa to the status of a Federal University for the educational benefit of Nigerians living in the region.
Kogi College of Education, Ankpa was established in July, 1981 as an Advanced Teachers’ College and shared the present temporary site with its former occupant, the Government Teachers’ College, Ankpa, later transferred to Abejukolo.
